Wilderness search and rescue is an activity that requires extensive knowledge and practice. Its purpose is to save lives when an injured, lost, or missing person needs to be found quickly in a natural environment. Effective search and rescue teams need to be well-trained and well-equipped in order to carry out their mission. This curriculum focuses on teaching the fundamentals of wilderness search and rescue with and without a dog, wilderness first aid, and how to teach a dog tracking and trailing for search and rescue.
