GUARD DOG TRAINING

GUARD DOG TRAINING

Course Overview

course

A highly trained guard dog is more than a deterrent; it is a precision tool for safety and a loyal protector of your family. At Fetch and More, we provide a comprehensive training course for guard, attack, security, and self-protection dogs. Our program equips owners and handlers with the elite knowledge required to maintain a reliable, disciplined, and effective working dog.

Guided by John Bellocchio, a behavioral scientist with over 20 years of experience, we bridge the gap between a dog’s natural instincts and real-world tactical applications.

Why Choose Virtual Guard Dog Training?

Many believe that protection training must happen in a remote facility. However, your dog’s primary job is to protect your home and your environment.

Our unique Virtual Training Concierge model allows you to train your dog where it matters most. Through high-definition video sessions and our interactive course portal, we provide:

  • Real-World Scenarios: Train in your own home, yard, and neighborhood—the exact places your dog needs to guard.
  • One-on-One Instructor Access: Direct feedback from a professional behaviorist to ensure precision.
  • Reduced Stress: Virtual training eliminates the distractions of a loud kennel, allowing for deeper focus and faster retention.

Important Information on Guard Dog Training

What Our Protection Course Covers

This is a rigorous, task-driven curriculum designed for those who take security seriously. We focus on building a reliable working dog that is stable in the home but formidable when called upon.

  • Instinct & Drive Mastery: Channeling your dog’s natural protective drives into controlled, disciplined behavior.
  • Tactical Obedience: Ensuring 100% recall and immediate “out” (release) commands under high-stress situations.
  • Proxemics & Positioning: Teaching the science of distance—knowing where to stand to provide maximum comfort and security.
  • Legal & Ethical Handling: Understanding local regulations and your responsibilities as a protection dog handler.

Important Safety & Breed Requirements

Because we treat a trained protection dog with the same gravity as a firearm, we maintain strict standards for our guard dog program.

Breed Restrictions for Precision

While we work with most breeds for obedience and service work, our Guard Dog Course is restricted to breeds known for their temperament, bite mechanics, and stability.

  • Eligible Breeds: Working and Herding groups including German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherds, Doberman Pinschers, and the AKC Working Group.
  • Prohibited Breeds: Due to specific physical traits and “lock-jaw” mechanics, Pit Bulls are prohibited from this specific course. Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, and hunting dogs are also excluded, as their natural drives are often incompatible with high-level protection work.

The “Safety On” Philosophy

A guard dog without discipline is a liability. We teach you how to keep the “safety on” your dog. Note: This course is for adults only (18+). Ignoring curriculum rules or supplementing with unqualified “YouTube” tutorials will result in immediate dismissal.
